The Monte Brione Loop is the classic welcome ride for anyone arriving in Riva del Garda. This limestone promontory separating the Riva gulf from Torbole is rich in history: from Habsburg WWI fortresses to olive groves that slope directly to the lake. Mainly on cycle paths and minor roads, it offers stunning views of the Upper Lake with an optional detour to Batteria di Mezzo fort for a 360° panorama.
Highlights
- Forte Batteria di Mezzo (320 m) – restored Habsburg fortress with 360° views over Lake Garda
- Porto San Nicolò – ancient fishing harbour with the ruins of Rocca di Riva
- Lakeside cycle path between Riva and Torbole – one of the most scenic stretches in Trentino
Practical tips
On an e-bike the climb to Forte Batteria di Mezzo (average 10% gradient) is accessible to everyone. Avoid midday in summer – the south-facing slope gets very hot.
